2013.09.9-11 - International Symposium „THE LATEST RESULTS IN AMERICAN STUDIES" (9th – 11th SEPTEMBER 2013)

We would like to invite you to an international symposium which will be held from 9th – 11th September in Wrocław. The meeting is organized by: The University of Wrocław and Polish Academy of Science Branch in Wrocław, Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of Polish Academy of Sciences, Centre for Late Antique and Early Medieval Studies in Wrocław.

International Symposium
„The latest results in American studies”




The main issue of the symposium relates to the latest research results in the field of archaeology, ethnology and history of the Americas and their significance for understanding the evolution of pre-Columbian and colonial societies of the region.
The meeting will enable the exchange of experiences between various research institutions, and will offer an excellent opportunity for a discussion on the diverse aspects of American studies. Undoubtedly the meeting also contributes to the establishment of contacts between institutions and integration among researchers from different countries.
The honorable custody of the event was asked:

The venue is the Institute of Archaeology, University of Wrocław, which is one of the oldest and largest Polish academic centers.

1. Archaeological research in the New World
2. Recent results of the ethnological research
3. The history of conquest and the colonial period

Participation:
We invite submission of abstracts for contributed oral and poster presentations.
Presentations in contributed sessions must be no more than 20 minutes.
Poster should not exceed 3 boards with a maximum standard A1 size.
Abstracts not exceeding 300 words, font Times New Roman, font size 12. should be submitted as a Microsoft Word file attached to an e-mail.
Registration deadline for presenting authors is July 10, 2013.
Program:
Program will be scheduled and emailed to the authors after the application deadline which is July 10, 2013.
We intend to publish the Proceedings of the meeting in 2014 both as a book and an electronic document. Each participant will be mailed both a hard copy of the book and access code for the electronic version.
Conference fee:
Early fee must be paid before June 30, 2013.
Early full fee is 40 EUR for presenting authors.
Early reduced fee for students and PhD students is 20 EUR.
Late fee is 50 EUR (full) and 25 EUR (reduced).
For participants without lecture the admission is free.

Arriving in Wrocław
By car: A4 motorway access
By train: Participants travelling by train will arrive in Wrocław at the main train station (Wrocław Główny). Wrocław has direct rail links with Dresden, Hamburg, Berlin, Warsaw, Lvov and Moscow (see timetable on www.pkp.pl)
By plane: Copernicus Airport Wrocław has a regular and charter connections with Germany, England, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark. Domestic flights to Warsaw, Poznan, Katowice, Krakow.
Airport is situated in the western part of the city, approximately 20 km from the city center.
Accomodation
Wrocław offers a choice of dozens of hotels and hostels varying in their comfort (from two to five stars) and prices (starting from 12 euro/per night at hostels).
There is also the possibility of accommodation for the participants in the quarters of University of Wroclaw and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
